Long before BJ Kemp stood in front of a judge, he was taking hits on the football field at the University of Houston — on scholarship. The same qualities that made him effective on the field followed him into law: relentless preparation, the ability to read a situation quickly, and the refusal to quit when things get hard. He played for every yard. He still does — just in a different arena now.
When his playing days ended, BJ enrolled at Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, earning his Juris Doctorate in 2019. He chose Thurgood Marshall intentionally — a school named after the architect of Brown v. Board of Education, built on the tradition of using the law as a tool for justice, not just profit. After passing the Texas Bar, he joined Calhoun Meredith, one of Houston’s respected personal injury firms, where he sharpened his skills on serious PI cases.
Not satisfied with just one specialty, BJ pursued an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida, one of the top tax law programs in the country. That credential opened the door to estate planning — helping families structure their assets, protect what they’ve built, and make sure their wishes are honored after they’re gone.
